Toby Ward

Reviews

Make a note to see Toby Ward's recent and irresistable vignettes inspired by real life at his one-man selling exhibition at The Catto Gallery. The people pictured in the oil canvases may be observations rather than accurate portrayals but the artist's skill lies in placing them in everyday situations that are familiar to the viewer. His time spent on ski slopes of the Alps as artist-in-residence for the Roayl Yeomanry is beautifully translated into The Silent Slope, while his involvement with organisations such as The National Trust, the Royal Opera House and City & Guilds have inspired interior scenes such as The Library Match and The Chaplain and the Heavenly Guest.
